2 Cups of Granulated Sugar

All the syrups require the same preparation. You will first need to bring the water and sugar to a boil in a small saucepan. Whisk it through to dissolve the sugar. Add the herbs or fruit, depending on which recipe you are making. Let simmer for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat, letting the mix steep for 30 minutes to an hour. Strain the syrup and store in the refrigerator.

We have included a recipe for a delicious, easy to make, holiday themed take on a moscow mule. The grapefruit rosemary mule uses just a few ingredients, and does not require any special bar tending techniques or tools. A good hot chocolate bar should be a tasty and fun activity for guests. Although every hot chocolate bar can be different, there are a few staples that you will need to have. Of course you will need a large batch of hot chocolate, one or a few favorite types of liquor to mix with the cocoa, and plenty of toppings for guests to choose from. Flatbreads are an incredibly easy to make snack that is perfect for happy hour. You can purchase some bread from your local grocery store to cut down on the prep time. Something like ciabatta, or naan will work well, but it’s really up to you and your personal preferences. For toppings, you likely have some things in the refrigerator that would work already, like pesto and parmesan cheese for example. You can set all your food out on some cutting boards, and use tiny bowls for the smaller items. Be sure to put out some basics to make eating easier, like napkins and toothpicks to grab the smaller snacks. Also, set out extra glasses so your guests won’t have to wander into your kitchen when they need something.

Southern Shandy

To make yourself a southern style shandy, first fill your glass halfway with the light beer of your choice. From there you can add one ounce of peach brandy and finally, fill your glass most of the way with lemonade. Give your drink a quick stir and it is ready to go.  It is as simple as that.

Lime Shandy:

A lime shandy would be a great citrus summer drink to make, for yourself or for your guests. To make it, you will first need fill your glass three quarters of the way with the dark beer of your choice. From there you can simply top off with the lemon-lime soda you have around. To garnish and add a little flavor, drop in some sliced pieces of lime.

Ginger Beer Shandy:

A ginger beer shandy is a perfect beverage anytime of the year, thanks to the everyone’s love of ginger beer. If you’re interested in making one of these for yourself, first muddle mint on the bottom of your glass. Add a half ounce of lemon juice. Next, fill your glass about halfway with the dark beer of your choice. Top off your glass with ginger beer and give your drink a quick stir.

Grapefruit Shandy:

A grapefruit shandy is a summer staple, and also incredibly simple to make for yourself at home. You will first need to fill your glass halfway with the light beer of your choice. I might even suggest swapping out the light beer for a Belgian style ale with citrus notes. From there, add a single ounce (one shot) of grapefruit vodka. Finally, top off the remaining room in your glass with some lemonade. Give your drink a quick stir and you are ready to enjoy.

Orangina Ginger Shandy:

This tasty shandy is made up of three parts. Fill up a glass halfway with your favorite IPA or pale ale. With the room left in the glass, fill up half of the remainder with ginger beer. From there you can just top it off with Orangina or lemonade, depending on availability and your personal preference. As easy as that, and very refreshing.

Arnold Palmer Shandy:

An Arnold Palmer shandy is yet another super simple summer shandy. To make one of your own, begin by filling our glass halfway with a pale ale of your choice. From there you will just need to top off your glass the rest of the way with Arnold Palmer. You can make your own Arnold Palmer or buy a favorite from the grocery store. Add a twist of lemon or lime to garnish.
