10 Shots You Haven’t Tried But Should

Shots are definitely not for the weak.  They are, however, for the adventurous and the go-getters of drinking.  At some point, everyone should try shots.  There are so many out there, you’re bound to find AT LEAST ONE you like.  My personal favorite?  Lemon Drop shots, Patron shots, and this delicious shot called a Strawberry Shortcake.  But, without further ado, here is our top secret list of 10 shots you (probably) haven’t tried but should.  My suggestion is you start at number 1, and try them all!

1. The Jolly Rancher Shot

Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like…a shot that tastes like a Jolly Rancher!  If you’re a candy fanatic, this is the shot for you.  If you are scared to take shots, this fruity shot is a good starting point for you because you can’t really taste the alcohol.  Jolly Rancher shots are made with a heavenly concoction of Amaretto, Melon Liqueur, Grenadine and Sprite.  Of course if you aren’t out and want to make your own cheap version, you can always just soak your favorite flavor Jolly Rancher in your vodka of choice.  Not as sweet, but still satisfying.

2. Kick in the Balls

As the name may make you assume, this drink is definitely for the manly men and the women up to prove themselves as tough!  The strength in this shot will most certainly feel like, well a kick in the balls…or ovaries?  Anyhow, this deadly mixture is made up of Cuervo Gold Tequila, Jack Daniel’s Whiskey, and Yukon Jack.  If this is your first shot ever, step away and try the Jolly Rancher instead.  Your tastebuds…and your liver will thank you.

3. Flaming Lemon Drop

Ok, so I already told you that lemon drops are my favorite shots, so I had to incorporate them in this list!  However, you probably have never had THIS lemon drop.  This is the lemon drop’s slutty cousin.  Vodka, Sambuca, Lemon, and Sugar make up this delicious treat.  The flame is optional, but I say GO FOR IT!

4. Jello Shots

Jello Shots are classic.  You’ve probably had one in some form or another, but I can assure you that there is a variety that you haven’t tried.  Jello Shots are pretty simple, just jello made with half of the cold water substituted for vodka.  I challenge you to try one that you haven’t had before, like red white and blue, or lemon lime.

5. Blow Job Shot

The way this shot is taken (which, by the way is between a man’s legs) is probably the reason you’ve never tried it.  However, it is definitely tasty enough to order at least once.  Guys, this might take some guts on your part, or at least a follow up shot of number 2, kick in the balls.  This delightful mix is Coffee Liqueur, Irish Cream, and a topper of Whipped Cream.  Yum!

6. Chocolate Cake Shot

Despite the name, this shot doesn’t contain any chocolate.  It also doesn’t contain any cake.  But, with a mix of Hazelnut Liqueur, Vodka, and a Lemon coated with Sugar as a garnish, your tastebuds will be happy.  This is quite sweet, so if you aren’t in to sweets, don’t order this.  Then again, why would you order a chocolate cake shot if you hated sweets anyway?

7. Purple Hooter

This drink is simple, but sure to be a favorite.  Vodka, Raspberry Liqueur, and 7-Up make up this little treat.

8. Scooby Snack

Whether you hated it or loved it, Scooby Doo was probably on your tv at some point during your childhood.  And, even if you don’t admit it, we know you still secretly watch it on Boomerang at 2am.  Here’s a shot in honor of the title character.  Coconut Rum, Creme de Bananes, Melon Liqueur, Pineapple Juice, Half and Half and an optional topping of Whipped Cream make this treat.

9. B52 Flaming Shot

This is the second “flaming” shot we have included and yes, I’ll admit…we might have a slight problem.  Hello, our name is BeerRightNow…and we’re pyros.  On a serious note, if the look of this shot alone isn’t enough to make you want to try it, maybe the Kahlua, Irish Cream, and Amaretto is.

10. Tequila Shot

Don’t grab your pitchforks just yet.  Truth is, we know you have probably already had straight tequila with salt and lime, but it is just such a classic, you MUST have it again.  Personally, I’m a Patron girl.  But there are others that will argue that Don Julio is better.  (Those people are wrong, by the way.)  Give it a shot and tell us your thoughts.

Whether you try one of the shots on this list, or all of them, shots can open up your drinking repertoire to a whole new level.  If I were you and brave, I’d try them all!  Let us know your thoughts on taste.  Got some thoughts on better ones that should have made the list?  Comment!  Comment!  Comment!  Until then, cheers folks.
