The Advantages of Being the “DD” – It’s Not All Bad!

Alright, so it’s Saturday Night and you’ve been given the not-so-coveted title of being the Designated Driver or DD for short.  But, while you’re cursing under your breath, let us share some insight on your situation.  This is actually a blessing in disguise!  How, you ask?  Sit back, grab a…soda…and read on.

The first reason why being a DD is awesome is that it gives you TONS of material for blackmailing.  If I were you and I was assigned the role of DD, I’d be the best damn hype man I could be!  “Oh sure, have another shot.  Don’t be a wimp!”  The drunker your friends get, the crazier they will probably act  and the more laughs you will have.  Plus, in an age of technology, it would be VERY easy to threaten to post their less than desirable behavior on Youtube, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.  I bet they’ll go buy you that ice cream now, won’t they?  Haha.

Another reason why being a DD isn’t all that bad, is you get to decide when it is time to go.  I know you’ve been in the situation where you did not feel like staying at a club or bar, but you had no say because you weren’t the driver.  But alas, as the DD, you get to say “LET’S GO NOW OR YOU’RE GETTING LEFT!”  Ohh the power…*insert evil laugh*.

As the Designated Driver, you’ll also basically be looked at as the ultimate superhero.  Your drunk friends, between doing their stupid antics, will thank you so much, you’ll be tired of hearing “thank you man, you’re so awesome!  You’re the best friend ever!”  Of course you are.  :)  Let’s face it, we’ve all always wanted to be a super hero.  Feel free to wear a cape…your friends will be too drunk to remember it later.  It will just be our little secret.

So next time you are assigned to be the DD, don’t groan, rejoice, for there are many benefits my friends!  Cheers.
