Best Drunchies

There comes a point in everyone’s drinking careers that the choice must be made: to find the drunchies (drunk munchies for those confused by the term) or to go to sleep. The answer is never simple, but here’s a list of some favorite go-tos that might make your decision a little easier.

1. Burger joint food

The forever-classic drunchie food must be the classic greasy burger, extra-large fries, and chocolate shake combo. Now, every town has their own late-night burger joint (even if it is just the McDonald’s closest to your house), but finding the perfect trifecta of sweet, salty, and greasy food while drunk has absolutely no comparison, that’s for sure.

2. Hummus and pita chips (or veggies!)

This one is for those who feel an extra helping of guilt with their morning hangover. Sometimes, the best drunchie foods are those in your own fridge (or snack cupboard) and can be a much healthier option to get that salt-fix post-drinking, even if it means eating an entire tub of hummus in one sitting or two-thirds of the family size bag of pita chips. At least it isn’t McDonald’s, right?

3. PIZZA

Back to non-healthy drunchies, pizza definitely tops the list for “easiest and cheapest to acquire.” Literally no one says no to pizza when they’re drunk, it always hits the spot, and you get to bond over your mutual love or hatred for the pineapple topping. Pizza’s an easy winner for one of the best drunchies, but don’t forget to tip the delivery guy!

4. Cereal

Sugared cereal might be loaded with calories, but your garden variety Frosted Flakes with milk is a good option for those looking to replenish fluids, feel full, and to counteract alcohol’s disruptive effects on sleep cycles. Not only that, but it’s absolutely delicious and will easily satisfy any drunchie craving you could possibly have.

5. Mac n’ Cheese

Anything covered with cheese just sounds like heaven when drunk, but mac n’ cheese for its soul-food comfort hits a new level of perfection when it’s drunchie o’clock. If you’re classy enough to go for the organic/healthy mac n’ cheese instead of your typical Kraft, you might even have a proper meal on your hands.

6. Honorable mentions

While we only mentioned a few of our favorite drunchies here, there are several honorable mentions not to be neglected, including: loaded nachos, Taco Bell, fried chicken, burritos, gyros, and kebabs. Hopefully you have more than enough to satisfy those drunchie cravings after your next late-night boozing adventure!
