Strawberry Mango Slushie

In this recipe, we will combine:

• 1/2 12oz can Bud Light Strawberry Seltzer
• 1/2 12oz can Bud Light Mango Seltzer
• 1 cup of frozen strawberries
• ½ cup of frozen mango
• (optional) splash of additional liquor such as Vodka, Rum, or Tequila

Blend to desired thickness, add ice if necessary, and enjoy. It’s that simple. 

You can also substitute some fresh fruit for froze, however, you will need to add additional ice to create the slushie effect. If you have fresh fruit available, garnish the drink with sliced strawberries.

Lemon-Lime Lemonade Slushie

A major step up from a traditional hard lemonade, these lemon-lime slushies will be your new go-to beverage for backyard picnics and barbeques. 

You will need:

• ¾ 12oz can Bud Light Lemon-Lime Seltzer (feel free to chug the other ¼)
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar
• ¼ cup hot water
• ice

Begin by using the ¼ cup hot water to dissolve the granulated sugar. 

Add to blender and combine with the seltzer, lemon juice, and some ice. 

This should yield two drinks, serve in mason jars with lemon or lime wedges for a chic take on grown-up lemonade.

3. Wine

Wine is a great choice if you’re actively trying to reduce the amount of carbs and sugar in your diet. What type you should choose depends on your goals.

If you’re concerned about insulin or blood sugar spikes, stick with dry reds like merlot. It is unlikely to significantly affect blood sugar levels and usually has less than 2g total carbs per glass. If you’re already pretty fit or maintaining, even a sweet glass of Riesling clocks in at about 4g carbs.

So have a glass and check yourself out in the mirror, hottie.

4. Vodka-Soda

Vodka-soda is the unsung hero of having fun while keeping your habits in check. Vodka is a zero-carb ally with only about 70 calories per 2.5oz shot. Combined with 0-calorie soda water and a few limes, this is the perfect mixture to give you a little fun without the worry later. 5. Low-Carb Beer

The Social Dist-shandy

This one is for sharing with your social distancing buddies while relaxing in your yard watching the grass grow.

2 oz peach brandy

THE BOREDOM BOWL

This is for the third week of quarantine, when you’ve organized your entire closet, deleted all 700 of your spam e-mails and watched everything on Netflix. It’s boring, but delicious.

2 oz strawberry liqueur

Pumpkin Spice Kahlua

Ingredients:

2 oz Kahlua

1.5 oz simple syrup

Milk to fill

Simple Syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Simple Syrup:

Combine water and sugar together in a pot and place on medium heat until the water boils. Reduce the heat to a simmer and add the spices. Simmer for 8-10 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved.

Drink:

Place ice, kahlua, simple syrup and a splash of milk together in a cocktail shaker. Shake well. Pour in a cocktail glass over ice.

Caramel Appletini

Ingredients:

1 oz vanilla vodka

1 oz sour apple schnapps

½ oz butterscotch schnapps

Combine alcohol in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Pour in a chilled martini glass.

Cinnamon (White) Russian

Ingredients:

2/3 oz kahlua

1 2/3 oz vodka

1 oz milk

1/2 oz simple syrup

Step 1: Choose your flavors

Decide what kinds of flavors you want to achieve. Are you looking for something sweet or spicy? Some good options are: pear, vanilla, chili pepper, mango, lemon peel, green tea, strawberry, basil, grapefruit, or apple. Don’t be afraid to combine different flavors to make a truly unique vodka. Why not mix strawberry and vanilla for a strawberry shortcake vodka?

Step 2: Choose a Vodka

You don’t need a top shelf brand of vodka, but you don’t want the cheapest bottle either. You want something of solid quality (so the flavor isn’t distracting from your beautiful infusion) like an Absolut or Smirnoff.

Step 3: Prepare the Ingredients

Chop up your fruit, or gather your spices. If you are using fruit you will want about 15 oz of fruit (2 apples worth) for a bottle of vodka. Cut the fruit to increase the surface area touching the vodka.

Place the fruit in a container, mason jars work well.

Step 4: Add the Vodka

Pour your vodka over the fruit, and stir it so all the fruit comes in contact with the vodka.

Step 5: Wait

Leave the infusion somewhere safe and dark for a few days. Depending on the infusion and how strong you want it you can leave it for 2 days to a week. Keep an eye on it throughout the week, you can always taste it to see how the flavor is coming along.

Step 6: Strain the Fruit

Now that the vodka has the perfect flavor you are ready to strain it. Use a regular kitchen strainer for most fruits, or if you used fine herbs you can use a cheesecloth or even a coffee filter. Make sure you strain it so that you keep the desired flavor.

Step 7: Enjoy!

You are ready to make your own cocktails or sip your infused vodka on ice. Enjoy!

There’s three reasons why I love marinades. First, they’re super easy because you’ll probably have most of the ingredients already. Second, anything you’re missing can be quickly picked up and will usually be pretty cheap, too. Lastly, with minimal prep time you can be revered by family and friends for possessing amazing cooking skills. They don’t need to know that it only took you ten minutes to put this marinade together, we can keep that our little secret

Below’s my go-to Meat Marinade, it’s great with pork and chicken.

Tip: makes enough marinade for roughly a pound of meat.

Meat Beer Marinade Recipe:

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup olive oil
• 1 1/2 cups dark beer of your choice (I use Black Toad Brown Ale, one glass is approximately this amount)
• 1/4 cup lemon juice
• 1/2 navel orange, sliced
• 4 cloves of garlic, diced
• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
• 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 teaspoon mustard
• 1 teaspoon oregano
• 1 teaspoon thyme
• 1 pound meat of your choice
• Optional: dash of cayenne pepper, if you want to add some heat.

1.  To prepare the marinade, whisk together the oil, beer, mustard, and lemon juice. Add the rest of the ingredients, except for the meat, and mix well.
2. Add the meat and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours; ideally let it marinate overnight.
3. Enjoy a beer, you’ve earned it!
