Invite all your friends to a virtual game night. Many rising platforms have been created to serve just this purpose. Trivia

You can also invite friends to submit facts about themselves and create a trivia quiz based around your friend group. Or add a drinking element requiring those with wrong answers to take a sip.

Beach Party

This already challenging activity only gets harder and more ridiculous with the addition of alcohol consumption. You can even add rules such as take a drink for every mispronunciation or forgotten movement. 

Movie Night

Grab the remote and settle into bed like you do every other night, except this time with the company of your friends. The extension Netflix party lets you watch a movie with your friends, from the comfort of your respective homes. Consider adding in a fun drinking game to go along with a classic movie. Decide on the rules beforehand, like “drink whenever Allie and Noah kiss” in “The Notebook,” and see if you can make it through the full film.

Cooking Party

Pick a recipe and send out the ingredients list ahead of time. Then, set up your laptop in your kitchen and cook alongside your friends. If you’re the host you might want to consider narrating your actions like on your favorite cooking show. Your friends can attempt to follow along, and you can all enjoy dinner and a drink together. Not exciting enough? Make it a competition. Try baking and decorating cupcakes and seeing whose creation looks like the work of the next baking champ and whose dessert disaster looks more like a scene from “Nailed It.” The loser owes the winner a round of drinks when this is all over.

Do a paint-by-number.

For people who love to sit down with paint and a brush but aren’t particularly artistic, paint-by-numbers are a fun alternative to blank canvases. They come with all the paints you’ll need, brushes and a ready-made picture with numbers to correspond with the paints. Even if you’re a little tipsy, these are super fun and can be challenging if you pick the right one. Invite a few friends over to paint or do other projects with you. You’ll create a beautiful piece of art for your home and have fun doing it.

Organize your closet.

We could all use this time to bring some organization into our homes. Pour yourself a glass of vino and start with the closet. Pour another and find all the lids for your storage containers. Invite your friends and family to pick through your closet for items they want and maybe return the favor. By the end, you’ll have a more organized house and a nice buzz.

Plant something.

You don’t need much. A little potting soil, some seeds and sunny spot. A little time in the sunshine digging in the soil does the mind and body good. Research what kinds of flowers or herbs grow best in your climate and how often to feed and water them. Then sit back with a cold wine spritzer (or Budlight Seltzer) and watch them sprout and grow!

Flowers are therapeutic to grow and make your home look and smell fresh.

Start a blog or journal.

Not every one likes the thought of sitting down and writing out their thoughts. But it can be a very therapeutic process, especially when you’re anxious or have a lot on your mind. Drink a glass of wine before you sit down to write to relax you and get the juices flowing. Then just start writing. Even if it’s not Stephen King grade, you might find out a little about yourself and release some stress in the process.

Take a bath.

Nothing quite beats a glass of deep red wine and a warm bath. Dump in that anti-bacterial hand soap to make yourself feel better and sip something while you soak your worries away. Throw in some epsom salts to soothe any sore muscles and remove toxins. Pour your partner a glass too and relax in the tub together.

1. Shandyland

A twist on our favorite candy-themed boardgame, set the game up as normal but every time you pick a colored-square card, follow the following drinking rules:

BLUE CARD- guys drink
PURPLE CARD- girls drink
ORANGE CARD- player who picked the card drinks
YELLOW CARD- player who picked the card picks someone to drink
DOUBLE CARD- player who picked the card drinks and picks one other player to drink as well
PEOPLE CARDS- player must choose a random person/celebrity and other players must ask YES or NO questions until they guess the person. Whoever wins this challenge gets to choose who drinks.
PLACES CARDS- player must choose TRUTH or DARE and the person to the left can ask a question or dare them to do something. The player may opt out by downing the rest of their drink.

2. Battle Shots

You don’t need the game or pieces for this one, but you will need a few other items:
-12 shot glasses (size doesn’t matter)
-a divider of some sort for the middle of the table (you can even stack some books- just make sure the other team can’t see where your battleshots are)
-a marker
-light colored table cloth you can write on

Use a ruler or book to create a battle ship board on the table cloth. Label the x-axis with letters and the y-axis with numbers, place your shots and start calling out coordinates. If you have a shot on B5 and the other team guesses “B5″, you must sink your battleshot- into your mouth. Keep the shots at 1 ounce for maximum play time.

3. Twisted-er

The game of Twister is already hard enough when you’re sober. Make the rule if you fall you drink, and its hilariously impossible. Use food coloring in shots of light colored liquor to make it even more interesting. If you miss a red dot, drink a red shot.

4. Pictionary

This game gets more and more fun as it goes along. Have everyone write phrases on separate index cards. 20 phrases per person is good. It makes it fun to put inappropriate stuff on the cards, but obviously, know your audience. Phrases could be things like “Does a bear scat in the woods?” or “She’s not the brightest crayon in the box.” Divide into teams and start picking cards to draw for the other team to guess. Set a timer for 1 minute and if they haven’t guessed the phrase, they drink and your team gets a point. Whoever has the most points wins!

Sometimes, it’s nice to mix a pregame up with a few new drinking games. Here are some that you’re almost guaranteed to have never heard of, so get ready to learn some new ones and drink up! Who said that pregaming couldn’t be educational?

1. Most Likely

As one of the most straightforward and revealing games, “Most Likely” is a fun one to figure out what you’re friends think of you. Taking turns in a circle, a person will say something like “Who is most likely to KTFO before we get to the club?” and everyone in the circle in turn points at whoever they think would be most likely to do that thing. The number of fingers pointing at you determines how many drinks/shots/seconds you drink for. Good luck staying sober for long!

2. Straight Face

This game requires some slips of paper and pens. Everyone writes a ridiculous sentence on a slip of paper (be as explicit or corny as you wish), folds the paper, and puts the paper in a pile in the middle of a table/floor/whatever. One by one, members of the circle pick up a piece of paper and read the sentence while trying to keep a straight face. Whoever cracks a smile or laughs first has to take a drink! Keep going until everyone is busting a gut for a guaranteed great evening.

3. I’m Going to the Bar

This game is a game of memory. Similar to “I’m Going on a Picnic,” in a circle, someone starts by saying, “I’m going to the bar, and I’m ordering a *insert drink here*.” The next person, then, is required to say the original drink, plus another i.e. “I’m going to the bar, and I’m ordering a rum-coke and a GT.” This continues around the circle until someone messes up the drinks, at which point they take a shot/drink. Be warned: this game can devolve very quickly depending on how far into the pregame/party you are!

4. Medusa

One of the easier games is “Medusa.” In this game, everyone sits in a circle staring at the table/floor. Designate a person to do a countdown, and once given the signal, everyone looks up at someone at the table. Whoever makes eye contact with someone else at the table has to take a drink/shot! Though you don’t get turned to stone in this game, there is a definite potential for high intake.

5. Edward 40 Hands

This game is one of the more brutal games, involving 2 40s of beer per person and some duct tape. To play, open the 40s and tape to the participants’ hands. The participants are barred from checking their phone/using the bathroom/doing literally anything until the 40s are finished and the duct tape removed. Think it sounds simple? It is. Think it sounds fun? Just wait and see.

There inevitably comes a point in every person’s adult life where someone has the bright idea to grab drinks and do a movie marathon. No? Well you haven’t lived life then, my friend. Here are a few movie marathon ideas to get you from 0 to hammered in 90 minutes or less.

1. Star Wars

Okay, yeah, this might be a little ambitious for a movie marathon. But assuming you can make it through two of the movies, we can count it (obviously the original movies first, save the prequels for when you’re drunk). Suggested rules are listed below:

Drink when:

• Storm Troopers miss their target
• Someone invokes the Force (“May the Force be with you”)
• R2D2 is useful
• C3PO complains about R2D2
• Han Solo brags about his sweet ride
• Darth Vader chokes someone with the Force
• Anytime someone says the word “midiclorian” (as if that’s a thing at all)
• Yoda says something about the Force

If you want to make it more interesting, add an extra drink in when:

• Chewbacca does the weird throat thing
• Jar Jar Binks does something annoying (if you’re not drunk before watching the prequels you will be after this one)
• A Jedi falls in the name of the light (obviously you drink to preserve his honor here)

May the Booze be with you.

2. Lord of the Rings (maybe the Hobbit?)

If the Star Wars space opera isn’t quite your thing (George Lucas just scowled), maybe the Lord of the Rings saga is more your game. Grab your drinking buddies and get to work! J.R.R. Tolkien wrote these books for you to have a great time.

Drink when:

• Gollum comes on screen and mentions “his precious”
• Legolas does some elf-y thing
• Gandalf is vague
• Bilbo employs thievery to achieve his ends
• Thorin does something annoying and douchey
• Smaug shoots flames at someone
• Sauron comes on screen
• Sam and Frodo have an ~intimate~ moment
• There’s a sick hair-flip (cue Legolas or Thranduil)
• The eagles show up

Mix it up by having everyone take a shot whenever they spot a hobbit’s feet. After this one, everyone in your group is going to want a second breakfast for the probable ensuing hangover.

3. Harry Potter series

Now if the other two series were ambitious, Harry Potter might just be the crown jewel in terms of long-ass movie marathons. But if Harry could be the Boy Who Lived and defeat Voldemort at age 17, you can certainly be the Grown Ass Adult Who Made it Through a Bottle of Cuervo at age 22. Accio Sangria!

Drink when:

• Harry complains about his scar
• Ron swears
• Someone mentions muggles
• Harry gets angsty
• Someone says “He Who Must Not Be Named”
• Magical creatures get involved
• Nearly Headless Nick’s head flops off his body
• Someone scores points in Quidditch

Take a shot/big drink when:

• Harry catches a snitch
• Someone becomes an animal
• Something explodes
• Dumbledore does something questionable as headmaster of a magical school

If by the end of the movie you don’t feel like you’ve just spent six hours in the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks, start the next movie. It won’t be long before everyone feels like they’ve taken a big gulp of Draught of the Living Dead. Make Hagrid proud, muggles.

While I wouldn’t necessarily endorse drinking for a complete 9+ hours straight, these movie marathons are bound to make a night in seem much less boring than they might be otherwise. Either way, stay magically drunk, May the Hangover not suck, and make sure you keep that precioussssss water next to you after your movie marathon drinking game night.

5 Best Drinking Games for any Great Pregame

1. Never Have I Ever

Rules: In a circle, take turns saying “Never have I ever…” and then say something you’ve never done (i.e. “Never have I ever gone streaking”). Anyone who has done that thing (in this case, someone who has gone streaking) takes a drink! This is a quick game to find out how much you really know about your friends.

2. Twenty One (Cheers to the Governor)

Starting off with one, take turns in a circle counting off until the number “21.” Whoever says the number 21 is allowed to institute a new rule for counting (i.e. switch the numbers 7 and 14 while counting, so the count will go 1-2-3-4-5-6-14-8 etc.). As the game progresses, the rules become more complicated (“at number 18, impersonate the person to your left”), and every time a rule is broken, everyone has to take a drink! This game is a super quick one for a good buzz.

3. Linked

This game requires a deck of cards. Keep the cards facedown and distribute the deck evenly amongst everyone present. The first person flips over their top card, followed by the second person. If their cards’ suit OR number matches, both people must drink for the number on their individual cards. For example, if person A drew a 7 of hearts and person B drew an ace of hearts, person A drinks for 7 seconds and person B drinks for 14 seconds while everyone else counts them down. Person C would then flip their card, and if they drew a “heart” card, or drew an ace, persons A, B, and C would all drink, all being “linked.” Cards are continually drawn in a circle until the deck is finished! The cards and their respective times are as listed: 2-10 = 2 seconds – 10 seconds, J = 11 seconds, Q = 12 seconds, K = 13 seconds, and A = 14 seconds. Drink up!

4. King’s Cup (Ring of Fire)

This game also requires a deck of cards and a large cup. Spread the cards in a circle facedown around the cup. Each person playing, then, draws a card and follows its assigned rule. Whoever messes up the rules takes a drink! The game ends when the last card is pulled or the “King’s Cup” is empty. Card rules are as follows:

Ace: Waterfall. Every player starts drinking at the same time as the person to the left, and

can only stop when the person to their left stops.

Two: You. Point at another person and they have to take a drink.

Three: Me. Person who pulls this card takes a drink.

Four: Floor. Everyone reaches down to the floor, the last person to touch the floor takes a drink.

Five: Guys. All of the guy players take a drink.

Six: Chicks. All of the lady players take a drink.

Seven: Heaven. All players put their hands up, last person to do so takes a drink.

Eight: Mate. Whoever drew the card gets to pick another person to drink every time they do, this continues until the next eight is drawn.

Nine: Rhyme. Whoever drew the card says a word, and other players have a limited amount of time to say a rhyming word. Whoever cannot think of a rhyming word must drink.

Ten: Never have I ever. Everyone at the table puts up three fingers, and plays never have I ever (see drinking game #1 for rules).

Jack: Make your own rule. Whoever draws the card may create a rule of their choosing. Personal favorites are “remove the little man from your cup before drinking” (everyone pretends to take a little man off of their cup every single time they go to take a drink) and “put your chin on the table if you say a swear word” (if someone drops an f*** bomb they keep their chin to the table until the next person swears). The rule continues until the next Jack is drawn.

Queen: Question master. Whoever draws can ask questions, and whoever answers has to take a drink. This continues until another question master is established.

King: King’s cup. Whoever draws this card pours some of their drink into the King’s Cup. When the last card is drawn, that player has to finish the cup, ending the game.

5. Paranoia

This one is fun to find out what your friends really think of you. The rules are that the person to your right (or left) will whisper to you a question, the answer of which question will be someone in the room (i.e. “who is the most annoying person in this room”). You then respond with that person’s name out loud (or point). If anyone wants to know what the question was, they have to take a drink. Be careful what you drink for!
