5 Thanksgiving Cocktail Recipes

As your guests pour in from the nippy outdoors, hanging their coats, and greeting with hugs as the aroma of turkey fills the air, what better way to get the Thanksgiving festivities started than with the perfect cocktail? There are so many cocktail recipes to choose from, but I have included my top 5. They are sure to warm the soul and present you with the coveted Hostess with the Mostest title of accomplishment.

1. Hot Buttered Rye

Sure to warm your guests and get them in the Holiday mood, this Hot Buttered Rye will have guests all warm and toasty. You will need 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 1/4 cup rye whiskey, 6 tablespoons hot water, 2 tablespoons ginger liqueur, and freshly grated nutmeg for this yummy addition to your Thanksgiving feast. You will beat heavy cream and maple syrup with an electric mixer at medium speed 2 minutes or until consistency of softened butter. Cover and chill 1 to 24 hours. Pour rye whiskey, hot water, and ginger liqueur into a 6-oz. heatproof cup. Top off with about 1/4 cup maple-cream mixture and your freshly grated nutmeg. ENJOY!

 

2. Pomegranate Sangria

For something a little cooler, this recipe is sure to deliver. You will need:
1 bottle fruity red wine
2 cups pomegranate juice
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup simple syrup (equal amounts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
1 large orange, halved and thinly sliced
1 cup strawberries, thinly sliced
1 cup red grapes, sliced in ½
Combine all of your yummy ingredients in a pitcher, cover, and refrigerate for 4-48 hours before serving. Serve with decorative straws!

 

3. Classic Eggnog

Who doesn’t love the classic eggnog. You can buy it pre-mixed from your local liquor store. But for the brave, you can make your own. What you will need for this amazing eggnog recipe is: 2 cups heavy cream, ½ cup sugar, ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, 4 large eggs, and ¾ cup Brandy. In a medium saucepan, bring the heavy cream, sugar, and nutmeg just to a simmer. In a blender, blend the eggs on low speed for 1 minute. Gradually add hot cream mixture. Blend until frothy. Add the brandy and blend to combine. Serve warm!

 

 

4. Cider Jack Cocktails

Cider

Cider is a staple drink for Thanksgiving and Fall. For this delectable holiday treat, you will shake 2 oz. of applejack liqueur, 1 oz. lemon juice, and a splash of grenadine. Pour over an ice-filled glass and top with hard apple cider. Don’t forget your cinnamon stick as the perfect accent for this drink.

 

5. Spiced Holiday Punch

The perfect drink for toasting! This recipe calls for 6 cups apple juice, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg,12 cloves,1 2-inch piece peeled fresh ginger, 1 cinnamon stick, 6 cups of cranberry juice, and ginger ale or sparkling wine. Then, you will bring 6 cups apple juice, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 12 cloves, 1 (2-inch) piece peeled fresh ginger and 1 cinnamon stick to a simmer over medium heat. Lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain, cool and chill. In a large pitcher, combine with 6 cups cranberry juice. Fill glasses partway with juice mixture and top off with ginger ale or sparkling wine. Your guests will love this perfect Thanksgiving cocktail!
