Boozy Christmas Cookies

There’s only one thing that Santa loves more than cookies and milk; milk and cookies with a little twist.

What better way to enjoy your favorite drinks than in your favorite holiday treats?

These adult-only recipes will get you ready for the holidays, as long as you don’t forget to slip Santa a few.

 

Salted Bourbon Chocolate Cookies

Whether you choose bourbon or rum, these cookies are a definite party pleaser, and so easy to make. All you need is:

• 2 cups all purpose flour
• 2 tsps baking soda
• 1/4 tsp salt + more for topping
• 1 cup dark brown sugar
• 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
• 1 large egg
• 1/4 cup quality bourbon
• 1 1/2 tsps vanilla
• 7 oz milk chocolate, chopped
• crisco to grease

Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. In separate bowl combine brown sugar, butter, egg, bourbon, and vanilla. Combine dry and wet ingredients then fold in chocolate chips. Grease cookie sheet. Roll dough into balls and cook for 8-10 minutes.

Eggnog thumbprints

This recipe features a holiday classic: rum. If you’re not a fan of eggnog, you’ll still love this recipe. The eggnog is subtle, but the deliciousness is overwhelming. You need:

• 3/4 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup butter
• 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
• 1 tablespoon rum
• 1 pinch ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350. Combing butter, white and brown sugars. Stir in egg and vanilla. In separate bowl combine flour and salt. Then knead in by hand until dough forms. Grease cookie sheet and roll into 1 inch balls. Bake for 12 minutes. To make frosting: combine butter, confectioners sugar, and rum. Stir and top each cookie when cooled. Optional: sprinkle with crushed candy cane.

Almond cookies

The only thing sweeter than amaretto liqueur are these almond cookies. In fact they’re the perfect amount of sweet. To make you need:

• 1/2 cups butter, softened
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup ground almonds
• 2 teaspoons amaretto liqueur
• 1 cup butter, softened

Preheat oven to 400. Cream together all ingredients except flour. Gradually stir in flour. Roll into balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 5-8 minutes.

Margarita balls

With their green color, these cookies are as festive as it gets. Never thought you could enjoy a margarita in winter, now you can. All you need is:

• 12 ounce package vanilla wafers
• 1/2 pound ground almonds
• ½ cup white chocolate
• 1/4 cup tequila
• 1/4 cup orange marmalade
• 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
• Green sprinkles
Mix crushed wafers with blanched almonds. Melt white chocolate separately. Mix tequila, marmalade, and corn syrup in blender. Add chocolate and crumb mixture. Roll into balls and coat with sprinkles. Store in fridge.
