UNEXPECTED
  1. Make Your Flowers Last Longer

Just bought or received some fresh cut flowers? Help preserve them with leftover vodka. When you get your flowers, give the bottoms of the stems a quick cut, to increase water absorption. After that add a few tablespoons of vodka to the water. This will help extend the life of your bouquet by a couple extra days, all with an ingredient many people have around the house.

  1. Refresh Household Linens and Clothing

Vodka works as a linen refreshing spray, minimizing unwanted scents easily and inexpensively. All you’ll need to do is put some vodka into a spray bottle, and spray directly onto most fabrics. You’ll obviously want to avoid using this on materials like silk or mesh, basically anything you wouldn’t wash in a typical way. I also recommend adding some essential oil to the spray bottle for a scented linen spray.

  1. All Purpose Cleaning Spray

Many people are familiar with using vinegar for cleaning, but also consider using vodka as an all natural cleaning product you can make at home. I like to soak the vodka with lemon or orange peels, for a citrus scented cleaner that does a great job of killing mold and cleaning tile.

  1. DIY Reed Diffuser Refill

Have an empty reed diffuser that needs more scented oil? You can make it yourself at home with two common ingredients, vodka and essential oils. Add 3 tablespoons of vodka to the reed diffuser container, followed by enough essential oil to fill the bottle most of the way. From there, just add your reeds and you are all finished. It’s as easy as that.

  1. All Natural Hair Rinse

When hair products are a regular part of your beauty routine, there is the chance that occasionally your hair will develop build up over time. A low cost option to manage this, is rinsing your hair with vodka. The alcohol cuts through build up leaving your hair super clean. Doing this every few weeks will reduce build up from extended product use.

  1. Keep Bugs Away

This is a great tip for picnics or outdoor parties. Fill a spray bottle with vodka and then spray onto the tables where your guests will be sitting down to eat. The vodka tends to keep away flies and bees, making it an all natural pest repellent for use outdoors that can be made with ingredients from home.

  1. Stain Remover

Vodka can actually be added to the laundry to keep colors bright and linens clean. It works as a natural stain remover, and can be used as a spot treatment for more pesky stains. When adding it to the washing machine, do it in a similar method to bleach, filling the machine with water and adding it before putting in the linens. Wash as usual and check out the cleaning powers of vodka.
